Founder Dorothy Alice was introduced to sewing at just three years old beside her grandmother’s Singer treadle machine, where patience, precision, and respect for handmade craftsmanship became second nature.

Her mother, an accomplished interior decorator, nurtured an appreciation for fine fabrics, custom drapery, elegant interiors, and thoughtfully designed homes. At the same time, countless hours spent in her uncle’s upholstery shop offered an education that few craftsmen experience today. Surrounded by industrial sewing machines, hardwood frames, traditional upholstery techniques, and generations of practical knowledge, she developed the skills that continue to define every project produced in the Dorothy Alice workroom.

Today, those early influences live on in a studio where traditional upholstery methods meet elevated interior design, creating furniture that is both timeless and deeply personal.
