Dorothy Alice is the owner and master artisan behind Dorothy Alice Custom Stitchery & Upholstery, a family-run workroom rooted in heritage craftsmanship and refined design.
Dorothy’s passion for sewing and fabrics began at the age of three, learning patience and precision beside her grandmother’s Singer treadle machine—an early foundation that shaped her lifelong devotion to fine workmanship.
Influenced by a mother with a keen eye for interior design and an uncle who introduced her to the transformative power of upholstery, Dorothy developed a deep appreciation for both artistry and structure. Over the years, she has honed her skills under the guidance of master tradespeople, blending traditional techniques with thoughtful innovation.
Dorothy’s professional journey also includes founding and operating a technology company for sixteen years, an experience that sharpened her business acumen and commitment to excellence. Nearly a decade ago, she returned to her roots as a full-time artisan, building Dorothy Alice into a respected atelier known for meticulous detail, comfort-driven construction, and timeless elegance.
Today, Dorothy works alongside her youngest son and a small team of skilled artisans, creating bespoke upholstery and soft furnishings that honor craftsmanship, legacy, and the belief that dreams—when stitched with purpose—do come true.
